Lindsay Teaches in India!

Lindsay is beyond excited to announce that she has been selected to join Artists Striving to End Poverty (ASTEP) as a Teaching Artist in India this spring at the Shanti Bhavan School!

ASTEP is a 501(c)(3) with the mission to connect performing and
visual artists with youth from underserved communities in the U.S. and around the world to awaken their imaginations, foster critical thinking, and help them break the cycle of intergenerational poverty.

This May, Lindsay will spend 3 weeks at Shanti Bhavan, a residential school in rural India that provides education for children from India’s lowest castes who often would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend school at all. The school provides room, board, medical care, and academics for students ages 4-18, and supports graduates throughout their college years as well. Shanti Bhavan aims to develop the whole child, so that these young people go on to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty and overcome the stigmatization that comes with their caste association.

ASTEP partners with Shanti Bhavan to provide arts education in
an effort to develop students’ social and emotional development.
As an ASTEP Musical Theater Teaching Artist, Lindsay will be part of the
teaching team leading arts camp for students. During camp, students will step outside of their comfort zone, have fun, and develop their confidence, critical thinking, creative problem solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
